Changes in Latitudes, Changes in Attitudes...
Super-quick:
I'm moving to Herndon, VA. Why? To open a Fetch! Pet Care franchise with my very good friend, Jen.
Starting a new chapter. Good bye retail management, hello business ownership!

Okay... so I'm trying again to publish a blog. Obviously, as my last post was at Easter, my first attempt didn't last long. It's almost Yule, and am I caught up on shopping/making gifts? No, I am not. But my mom's gift is going well. I'm fairly certain she won't read this, as I haven't told her about my blog, and she doesn't surf a lot. So it's a scarf that I'm knitting from handspun yarn. Actually, two different yarns, a bulky creamy white & a fine multi-red merino.

Good morning, and happy Easter! I'm at work, wishing I were spinning... and just to torment myself, brought along my new contemporary-styled Turkish spindle and some roving. I got the spindle at the 10th anniversary Fleece Fair in Greencastle, IN, and also came away with several samples of fiber, including: cotton, silk noil, bleached Irish linen, mohair locks, bamboo, and ingeo (made from cotton). I will be spinning sample skeins tomorrow, because Wednesday evening I will be giving a spinning presentation at the local SCA meeting (www.sca.org), a medieval reenactment group. I first learned to spin at an SCA event, and while I have expanded to include spinning with a wheel (double-treadle Babe wheel, made of pvc, yes, plastic!) (Babe's Fiber Garden) I still enjoy the transportability of sticking a spindle and some fiber in a totebag or backpack.
